For career-break travellers

A reset that contributes.

Trade the desk for field days with animals — and evenings on one of South Africa’s most beautiful coastlines.

Fixed dates · Small groups · No experience required

Days with weight to them

Livestock handling, rural outreach, reptile facility routines — work that asks something of you and gives structure to the break.

Zero planning burden

Fixed dates, a set programme, accommodation and field days arranged. You bring yourself; the logistics are handled.

The Wild Coast every evening

The base sits above the beach at Chintsa. Field work by day, ocean at the end of it.

No experience needed — genuinely

Every activity is demonstrated first, then guided. Career-breakers arrive from offices, not farms, and that’s expected. What you need is the willingness to show up for the day’s work.

Straight answers

Do I need animal experience?

No. Every activity starts with a demonstration and is staff-guided. Most participants have no prior field experience.

How long is the programme?

Programmes run on fixed dates in small groups. Apply and we’ll send the upcoming dates and durations that fit a career-break window.

Can I switch off out there?

Mostly, yes — that’s rather the point. The base has what you need to stay reachable, and the days are full enough that you won’t miss the feed.

The desk will still be there.
